The Carmel Rotary Club and Shoprite of Carmel are again joining forces for their “Fill the Truck” food drive from 9 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday.
As shoppers exit Shoprite, their donations of non-glass, non-perishable groceries will be put in a designated area to be separated and then delivered to four food pantries including Brewster Community Food Pantry, Gilead Presbyterian Church, Putnam Community Action Program (CAP), and St. John the Evangelist Church. These volunteers, led by Carmel Rotarian George Knoechel will “Fill the Truck” – a tractor-trailer provided by Shoprite to store the donations for the weekend food-fundraiser.
Entertainment will be provided by performers on Saturday with the Carmel High School Rock & Roll Band with teacher Angelina Mendes, from noon to 1 pm and then Paul Tyron and Band from 1 pm to 2 pm. On Sunday the United Martial Arts Center Demo Team will entertain between noon and 1 pm, followed by the Carmel High School Rock & Roll Band from 1pm to 2pm.
