Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh USA Inc. and the City of White Plains will host a Dharma and Yoga Fest from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 21 at Highlands Middle School in White Plains.
The festival will be observed as Spiritual Wellness Day as part of the City of White Plains Wellness Week celebration. It will showcase bhaktī (devotion), jñāna (intellectual), karma (service), and rāja (postural yoga or hatha yoga) yoga forms. To bring practitioners together at the event, HSS is partnering with various local organizations, including White Plains Cares Coalition, the Art of Living Foundation, Brahma Kumaris, Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation, International Center for Cultural Studies, and various kirtan and yoga centers.
Demonstrations, discussions, and teachings from all yoga paths will be featured, including a concert and workshop, discussion on Bhagvad Gita and service activities, and haṭha yoga demonstrations. There will be games, stories, face painting, and a Yoga session specially designed for children.
Dharma and Yoga Fest will also feature a talk by 95-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch. Dr Graham Schweig, whose translation of the Bhagvad Gita has received popular acclaim, will deliver the keynote address at the event.
