The North Castle Police Department, the North Castle Community Coalition and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 27.
Citizens are urged to bring their medications for disposal to the North Castle Police Department, 15 Bedford Rd. in Armonk. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.
This initiative is part of a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration in conjunction with state, local law enforcement, and community coalitions throughout the U.S.
People bringing unused medications – whether prescription or over-the-counter – should keep them in their original bottle or container. Hypodermic needles will not be accepted, and people should instead place them in puncture-proof containers and throw in the trash. Pet medications will be accepted.
