A Briarcliff dentist is continuing his Halloween program that sends candy to troops overseas:
Michael Teitelbaum, DMD, FAGD is teaming up with Zombies to fight tooth decay and help our troops have a happy Halloween. Dr. Teitelbaum will not only buy back candy from kids for one dollar per pound, but also give out video games, then send the candy to our troops overseas.
“It gets the candy away from kids, who are already at a cavity-prone age, and helps cheer up soldiers, who are far from home & can’t enjoy the simple pleasure of Halloween,” commented Dr. Teitelbaum.
A goulish twist on the old “Trick Or Treat” custom is returning to Westchester this holiday season—the candy buyback program. Dentist Michael Teitelbaum is concerned about all the sugar consumed around Halloween, so he’s doing something about it! Not only can Children can pile their loot on a scale in his office (1312 Pleasantville Road, Briarcliff Manor, NY), and receive $1 per pound but, since he is participating in the ADA’s “Stop Zombie Mouth” campaign, the first 35 people who bring a candy donation can obtain a free game coupon redeemable for the full PC/Mac edition of Plants vs. Zombies. Collected confections will be boxed and sent to American troops serving overseas.
The sweets can be dropped off after Halloween on Thursday November 1st, Friday November 3rd and Saturday November 4th between 8:30am and 5pm. “This is my 10th year collecting and donating hundreds of pounds of candy. I enjoy doing things that are fun, yet also good for people’s health. Let’s face it, this time of year both adults and children eat too much sugar and end up paying the price later with a mouth full of cavities, making them look like zombies” said Dr. Teitelbaum, who has been practicing cosmetic/family dentistry for over 20 years. Last year this charity minded professional collected over 400 pounds of candy.
Among other charitable endeavors, Dr. Teitelbaum also volunteers his services restoring smiles of battered women through the “Give Back a Smile” program, donates teeth bleaching treatments for local charity fundraisers, and annually gives money from smile whitening to Garth Brooks’ childrens’ charity through the “Smiles for Life” Program.
