Students at Fox Meadow High School at Putnam Northern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services will find it easier to get – and stay – fit this year thanks to a new Fitness Center unveiled recently.
Physical Education classes at Fox Meadow used to focus on playing sports like basketball, soccer and volleyball that could be played on the courts and fields behind the school. But now those classes will incorporate a variety of fitness activities using state-of-the-art equipment including treadmills, an elliptical, a stationary bicycle, a multi-press upper body station, a lateral pull/row upper body station, a leg press, a leg extension/curl lower body station and an FTS glide.
“The students were really excited to see the equipment installed and they’ve really embraced it,” said Fox Meadow Principal Adam Van Der Stuyf. “It is an opportunity for us to meet all the needs of the students including health and wellness.”
