Mount Kisco village officials are alerting drivers to road detours and some closures on Sunday for the 9/11 Memorial unveiling and ceremony at the Village Green that will begin at 4 p.m.
Route 117/Main Street drivers will be closed from Route 133 to Blackeby Place between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Detour signs will guide northbound travelers from Main Street to Green Street to South Moger Avenue back to Main Street. East and south bound travelers can use South Moger Avenue. Route 117 will be closed from Green Street to Blackeby Place between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. The Main Street exit from Shoppers Park will be closed, but the Green Street entrance and exit will be open.
The Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department will be unveiling its 9/11 Monument at 4 p.m. Sunday adjacent to the Mount Kisco Public Library at 100 Main Street. The community is invited to attend. The monument has a water fall and two granite columns representing the twin towers and its base is in the shape of the pentagon. A steel beam from the World Trade Center is incorporated into the design. The library is hosting an ongoing exhibit of images about 9/11.
