BEDFORD — A week of outdoor carnival fun is set to begin on Tuesday night at St. Patrick’s School in Bedford Village.

The 35th annual St. Patrick’s Carnival and Raffle is set to kick off the season of outdoor family fun May 10 through May 15. The week-long event for kids of all ages has become one of the most popular carnivals in Westchester, drawing families from nearby Putnam, Connecticut and the Bronx.

Always opening on the Tuesday after Mother’s Day, and still run entirely by volunteers, the St. Patrick’s Carnival and Raffle raises money for educational and charitable ministries of the parish.

Try your best shot at the arcade-style games, take a whirl on rides provided by Stewart Entertainment, and sample the great Carnival food — all in the comfort of the big green lawn of St. Patrick’s School at Route 22 and Greenwich Road.

Admission is free.

The popular new car Raffle offers a chance to win a 2011 BMW Convertible 128i or $25,000 cash. Sales are limited to only 900 tickets to improve your chance of winning. Tickets are $100 and may be purchased by sending a check payable to St. Patrick’s Raffle, P.O. Box 303, Bedford, NY, 10506. Raffle tickets will also be on sale at the Carnival, all the way up to the drawing on 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Carnival runs weeknights and into the weekend, when one bracelet buys unlimited rides from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

A free shuttle bus service will run from three nearby parking lots — The Bedford Elementary School on Court Road, the Bedford Town Park on Greenwich Road, and St. Patrick’s Church on the Village Green.
