If you missed it, check out this week’s story on acclaimed writer Mary Karr.
Karr will speak at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Maryknoll Mission Center, 55 Ryder Rd., Ossining. Her talk, “From Black Belt Sinner to Believer: The Unlikely Catholic,” will talk about her faith journey and spiritual practices.
Karr rose to fame following the release of her first memoir in 1995, “The Liar’s Club,” about her troubled childhood in Texas. Her third memoir, “Lit,” about her conversion to Catholicism after a life of self-destruction and alcoholism, was also a bestseller.
Karr will also be speaking at 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Theresa’s Church, 1394 Pleasantville Rd., Briarcliff Manor. Her talk there will focus on writing about spiritual issues to a secular audience. The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information on the event, visit St. Theresa’s website at:http://www.sainttheresa.org/article.asp?ID=743
