Neurologist Dr. Nilay Shah was recently appointed a partner and the new Director of Medical Services at Integrated Medicine & Nutrition of Mt. Kisco, a holistic and nutritional medical practice, founded by Dr. Shah and Dr. Michael Wald of Chappaqua, according to a press release.

Here is part of the announcement:

“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Shah to our growing practice that offers patients a wide range of conventional medical treatments, along with strong nutritional and holistic options,” added Dr. Wald, who is also a certified dietician nutritionist (CDN). Dr. Shah is also in charge of medical spa services for the practice’s Holistic Med Spa, where Dr. Shah administers Botox, fillers and other medical spa procedures.

“I am excited to be part of Integrated Medicine of Mt. Kisco where we put a great emphasis on preventative medicine and individualized treatment plans,” said Dr. Shah, who also a founding member of the New York State Neurological Society and member of the BrainPac Founders Club.

Over the years, Dr. Shah has visited India over 40 times, during which time he developed an appreciation of natural and holistic approaches to healthcare. As Medical Director for Integrated Medicine & Nutrition in Mt. Kisco, Dr. Shah applies many of the principles he has learned on his travels to combine the best of Allopathic and Complementary medicine to fully treat each individual.

Dr. Shah is best known for his “holistic” approach to neurology, treating many patients with brain injuries and diseases like multiple sclerosis, diabetes, epilepsy and strokes who have not responded well to conventional medical treatments. Dr. Shah believes that reaching and maintaining health and reducing disease risk are best achieved through scientifically based medical, nutritional and natural means. He has spearheaded treatments like a special ketogenic diet to treat multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and other serious diseases.

Shah received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, British West Indies, followed by a Residency in Neurology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York. He went on to complete a Fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Shah has a bachelor’s of science degree at Cornell University.

While at Mt. Sinai, he helped to found the website MedicalPocketPC.com, a resource for healthcare professionals improving patient care using hand held technology. Recently,. Shah has launched MedicalPhone.com. He is also the Director of the Multiple Sclerosis and Epilepsy programs at Riverfront Medical Associates in Edgewater, N. J.,  and  an Assistant Professor of Neurology at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, British West Indies.
