Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the League of Women Voters of Bedford, Lewisboro and North Salem is holding a Feb. 9 fundraiser in Katonah that will delve into the history of chocolate.
Peter G. Rose, author and food historian, will be giving a presentation that will include an examination of the Hudson Valley cacao trade in the 17th and 18th centuries, according to an LWV news release.
The league said there will be a chocolate making demonstration at the event as well as chocolate refreshments. There will also be a raffle held with the winner receiving a basket of chocolate treats.
The event, which starts at 7:30 p.m., will be held at the Katonah Village Library, 26 Bedford Road.
The admission is $15 with a reservation and $20 at the door. The raffle tickets cost $5. Proceeds from the event will to to help cover the cost of creating the league’s annual voters’ guide which provides residents information about candidates and their positions on various issues.
