Got this on behalf of Scarborough Presbyterian Church, which is holding this event as a fundraiser for the Career Closet of Briarcliff Manor, which provides interview-appropriate clothing for those leaving welfare to enter the work force. Here’s the details:
You’ve probably all heard of “Project Runway,” Lifetime Television’s popular show that pits budding fashion designers against each other in a competition to find the next best designer. Well, now the Scarborough Presbyterian Church is producing its own local version of this show, “Project Greenway,” a “re-fashion” show featuring recycled clothing.
“Project Greenway” is set for Sunday, Nov. 7 at 4 p.m. at the church, 655 Scarborough Road just off Route 9 in Briarcliff Manor. You can enter the competition with your own recycled styles or just come and enjoy the show.
To enter, just take one or more items of outdated or second-hand clothing and re-fashion them in to a great new outfit. Be sure to take a photo of the “before” look and walk the runway in the “after.” Participants could win a $200 gift certificate to March Boutique in Briarcliff or other great prizes.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for students. A wine and hors d’oeuvres reception will follow the show. For more information about “Project Greenway” or to purchase tickets, call 914-941-1142, e-mail email@example.com, or visit www.aboutspc.org.
