The district announced today that Jumper will assume the post as of March 1, 2011, which is the effective retirement date of the current superintendent, Robert Roelle.
Jumper, who will continue as the assistant auperintendent for business, will serve as the interim superintendent until June 30, 2011 or until a new full-time superintendent can take over the job, the school district said in a news release.
The assistant superintendent for business, at his request, will not be a considered as a candidate for the full-time superintendent post, School Board President Michael Gordon said in the news release.
Jumper will receive a $15,000 stipend for his work as the interim schools chief, the district said adding that had he not taken the post, Katonah-Lewisboro would likely have had to pay about $80,000 in salary for an outside interim superintendent.
