Organizers are holding the 7th Annual Hudson Valley Walk for Polycystic Kidney Disease research this Saturday, Sept. 25, in Bedford Hills.
Registration for the walk starts at 9 a.m. at the Bedford Hills Memorial Park, 60 Haines Road. The walk starts at 10 a.m. The event is held to raise money for PKD research and to increase awareness about the disease.
PKD, one of the most common life-threatening genetic diseases, causes cysts to form in the kidneys which interferes with that organ’s ability to filter toxins out of the blood, according to the PKD Foundation’s Hudson Valley Chapter.
For more information about the walk and the disease you can go to the chapter’s website.
Heidi Cambareri, the coordinator of the Hudson Valley Chapter, took some time last month to answer questions from The Journal News about PKD and the event. To read the interview, click here.
