Auctions of Paul Greenwood’s antiques and collectibles begin; Steiff auction Oct. 13 in London
The auctions of former North Salem Supervisor Paul Greenwood’s antique furniture, books, decorative items and collectibles began Thursday with items placed in a Christie’s auction of Chinese art. The auctions will continue over the next several months with the major event being a
stand-alone auction on Oct. 13 in London of the Steiff stuffed animals collected by Greenwood and his wife Robin. The collection is cataloged in more than 90 pages.
The money will go to repay investors Greenwood pleaded guilty to defrauding. The sale of items collected before the start of the fraud will help pay up to $1 million in legal fees in his criminal case. Greenwood pleaded guilty in late July and is cooperating with prosecutors. He has yet to be sentenced. He admitted to taking money from his investors in WG Trading and other companies for his personal use and to hiding losses from investors.
