The Chappaqua Library is planning a week of amnesty from overdue fines from April 11-17.
The amnesty is designed to return items to circulation and to give library users a chance to reinstate their borrowing privileges. More than $10,000 worth of materials are overdue.
“The value of a library is diminished when books, DVDs, and other items are not available to the borrowing public,” says the statement announcing the amnesty.
The amnesty will not apply to items already returned or to unusable items. The last amnesty was four years ago.
