Somers officials got off to an early start in giving the oath of office to new officials. They held a swearing-in ceremony Dec. 27. The town’s Organization Meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. tonight.
Somers Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy, newly elected Councilmen Rick Morrissey and Harry Bolton together with Tax Receiver Joan Ribaudo took their oathes in front of a packed crowd at the Historic Elephant Hotel.

In attendance were friends, family and many Somers residents. Said Supervisor Murphy: “The celebration was a simple one, and yet another example of what a wonderful town Somers is. I was honored that State Sen. Vincent Liebell, whom I have long considered a friend, took the time out of his busy schedule to attend the festivities.
“The newly constituted Board looks forward to focusing on budgetary, infrastructure and open space issues of concern to town residents.”
