The SPCA of Westchester based in Briarcliff Manor is really excited about a new fundraiser that its leaders hope will be tasty and profitable.
Two of the SPCA’s board members, Barbara Kobren and Deb Mehne, have started their own company called “Bobbysue’s nuts!” and all proceeds from sales of this new product will go to a new animal shelter for the SPCA of Westchester, a no-kill shelter. These nuts are sold in many specialty shops in Westchester and Fairfield counties. A third partner is their friend Susan Spiegel, a filmmaker in Armonk.
The nuts are described as all-natural, using only organic eggs, nuts, sugar and spices. Kobren, Mehne and Spiegel do all their own cooking, packaging, labeling and distribution.
“We’re all very excited because this week the ‘nuts’ make their debut in Murray’s Cheese Shop in Grand Central and the Bleeker Street shop in NYC,” said SPCA Executive Director Shannon Laukhuf.
Local shops selling these nuts include: Briarcliff Seafood, Meats & Deli and Holbrook Cottage in Briarcliff; Country Kitchen in Armonk; Chappaqua Village Market and Gail Patrick’s Café in Chappaqua; Say Cheese and Thank You and Black Cat Café in Irvington; Table in Bedford Hills; Bedford Gourmet in Bedford; Dragonfly Café in Pleasantville; Ladle of Love and Mount Kisco Seafood in Mount Kisco; and Garelic and Herbs of Westport, Greenwich and New Canaan, Conn.
