Republican Charles Duffy, who ousted Democratic Supervisor Edward Brancati in Tuesday’s elections, offered some insights today on the GOP’s victory in local Town Board races.
“I think it was a result of the people of Lewisboro really focusing on the finances as a major issue in town, and (they) thought that we presented the best team to help us through these financial times,” Duffy said.
The incoming supervisor said he also felt that the county executive race between GOP candidate Rob Astorino and Democratic incumbent Andrew Spano boosted Republican turnout for the town races.
“It made Republicans come out,” Duffy said.
Tuesday’s results means that Republicans once again have a majority on the Town Board, where Democrats once held a 3-2 advantage.
