The drinking water at some schools in northern Westchester and Putnam counties has been contaminated by salt over the past decade, prompting a few to switch to bottled water or in one case to a new water system.
Other schools posted signs warning those on low-sodium diets away from the water.
The findings come as part of an investigation by The AP into drinking water at schools across the country. It found the water at thousands of schools, both public and private and in all 50 states, to contain unsafe levels of lead, pesticides and dozens of other toxins.
