Girls Diving • 10.30.09
Divers from Westchester, Rockland and Putnam came together at the Section 1 girls diving championships at Pace University tonight. I particularly like this intense photo of Horace Greeley’s Carly Feinman splicing the the surface of the water.

Sectional Tennis Semifinals • 10.30.09
I saw some exceptional play in the semifinals of the girls sectional tennis tournament in Greenburgh, today.

Historic Costumes at North Salem Middle School • 10.30.09

The Halloween themed social studies project asked sixth grade students to research an historical character and create a costume that best represented them. Bedford graveyard restoration workshop coming up • 10.30.09
The Friends of Bedford Burying Grounds Foundation is holding a Nov. 7 grave restoration workshop at Buxton Cemetery.
The workshop will demonstrate basic techniques on cleaning and straightening gravestones, the foundation said in a news release. The Nov. 7 event starts at 10 a.m. at the cemetery, located just southeast of the intersection of Bedford Center Road and Succabone Road.
Town Historian John Stockbridge encouraged residents to bring gloves to the event.
The foundation held a similar workshop several weeks ago at the Old Burial Ground in Bedford Village. The group was formed in order to keep the town’s historic graveyards from wasting away.

North Castle supervisor candidate Frank Benish schedules series of coffees before election day Tuesday • 10.30.09
Independent/Libertarian supervisor candidate Frank Benish has set up several coffees to meet voters before the polls open on Tuesday:
Saturday he’ll be at Tazza on Main Street in Armonk from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and Monday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. he’ll be at Dunkin Donuts on North Broadway in North White Plains. (He was in Banksville earlier today.)
He is running against Democrat Becky Kittredge and Republican William Weaver.
Girls Tennis- First Round • 10.29.09
Fox Lane’s Sharissa Ryan Was incredibly focused today as she played in the first round of sectional qualifiers. I knew as soon as I shot this photo of her keeping her eye on the ball that it would an excellent contender in an upcoming Gameface contest.

Nearly $900,000 raised for Northern Westchester Hospital • 10.29.09
About $900,000 was raised at the 2009 Northern Westchester Hospital Annual Benefit.
The Mount Kisco-based hospital announced this week that despite dreary weather, about 700 people attended the Oct. 24 event at Caramoor in Katonah.
The hospital said in a news release that the money was raised to support NWH and “its ongoing mission to provide the highest quality health care for the Westchester community.”
Somers Fire • 10.29.09
I shot a house fire on Route 118 in Somers early this morning. The fire which was reported around 2 AM, burned through the roof of the home. The occupants were able to escape uninjured.
